I was part of the team that did the analysis that showed it was impossible to hack the actual controls of the aircraft on which our company had computers. The company I worked for built computers and systems for fly-by-wire. After the September 11 attacks, the FAA was spooked about someone being able to remotely control fly-by-wire aircraft. I'll share a little of my work experience. There is no upgrade path short of replacing the entire head unit. Hence the "2019 uConnect 4 owners are screwed" comment as far as being able to upgrade. The 2019 uConnect 4 (no "C") has no circuit board that has the internet connectivity. If uConnect doesn't have internet capability, there's no path to get to the ECM - short of opening the hood and physically accosting the ECM or plugging into the ODB2 port, both of which requires access to the vehicle.
